Penile deviation

You experienced a curvature of the penis during erection or have localpain during sex? – this may be due to fibrosis of the penile shaft, so called Peyronie’s disease. Local inflammation of the inner layer of the penile shaft causes scar development, in some cases even calcification that can be associated with local pain during erection and development of a deviation („curving“) of the penis. The deviation may progress over time causing difficulties for penetration and positioning. In some men, Peyronie’s disease is associated with contractures of the hand (Dupuytren’s contracture) or the foot (Morbus Lederhose).

Painful erections due to scar development identifies an ongoing local inflammattory reaction contraindicating any surgical interventions. But local treatment either with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWT) to the penile shaft or intophoresis can be succesfully offered.

ESWT is also indicated for the treatment of Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction and chronic pelvic pain syndrome. Early intervention is predictive for rehabilitation – if you suspect or experience alterations of your penis – look for a control.
